Surf town with jungle backdrop
About Dominical
Dominical is a small surf town on Costa Rica's South Pacific coast, where the Baru River meets the ocean and the Talamanca mountains rise steeply from the shore. The beach break is powerful and consistent, attracting experienced surfers, while the surrounding hills hide some of the most dramatic scenery in the country.
The Nauyaca Waterfalls, accessible by horseback or a 2-hour hike, are among the most impressive in Costa Rica — a two-tier cascade dropping into a large natural pool. Hacienda Baru Wildlife Refuge, just north of town, offers excellent birdwatching and wildlife encounters in secondary forest.
