Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve Guided Walk

A guided walk through the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve — established in 1972 by the Tropical Science Center to protect pristine cloud forest.

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve was established in 1972 by scientists from the Tropical Science Center (TSC) and the local Quaker community to protect one of the last tracts of pristine cloud forest in Central America. Covering 3,500 hectares, the reserve holds 2.5% of the world's biodiversity and is one of the most important private conservation areas in Costa Rica. On this guided walk, an expert naturalist leads you through various trails in search of birds and mammals, explaining the extraordinary diversity of flora and fauna and the unique ecological relationships of cloud forest species. Guides are equipped with a telescope and binoculars, and you can take pictures through the telescope.
